Year 3

Today in science we used data loggers to test how reflective different materials are. 

We worked in groups to make predictions and carefully test each material. 

After analysing our results we used what we had learned to design book bags with reflective strips.

We made apples bird feeders to support the wildlife in our garden during the winter months. 

We found sticks so the birds have a perch and then stuffed sunflowers seeds into the apples for them to feast on. 

We hung them high in the trees. 

Today we sourced pictures for our presentation backgrounds to use on the green screen. 

We organised our research into sections and then decided what pictures we would like. We searched for them online and then saved them into an album to use later.

Today in maths we were feeling festive. 

We used our maths skills to crack the codes for Christmas jokes and words. 

Some of us practiced our 2 and 5 times tables colouring mosaics to reveal the Christmas pictures. 

Class 8 have enjoyed making and eating Christmas cookies.

This week in maths, we have been consolidating our eight times tables. Some of us were consolidating, our two times tables.

We coloured in mosaics using coded numbers to reveal the patterns.

Today in English, we looked at subordinate, conjunctions and clauses. We matched up the main causes with the subordinate clause.

This week we looked at how fossils are formed. We matched up pictures of dinosaurs and fossils that have been found.

We used our observation and oracy skills to give reasons why we thought the fossils matched the pictures. 

Class 7 enjoyed their session on the Ice.

Today we went to the Yorkshire coal mining museum to learn more about our science topic on rocks. 

We learnt about how coal was made as well as mudstone, sandstone, limestone and ironstone and what life was like for miners years ago.
