Behaviour Expectations

By the time pupils leave St Bartholomew’s, we want them not only to have achieved their full academic potential but also to have developed into confident, independent and responsible British citizens.

We aspire for all pupils to be positive role models within their communities, demonstrating the values, skills and personal qualities needed to thrive in modern society. In particular, we encourage our pupils to embody the following attributes:

Our behaviour expectations will support pupils in achieving this.

Trackit Lights Behaviour System

Positive behaviour is consistently reinforced everywhere in school.  The Trackit Lights Behaviour System (Trackit Lights Website Link) is visible in all classrooms and points are awarded to pupils for demonstrating positive behaviour. 

Restorative Approach

At St Bartholomew's, we use a restorative approach to behaviour, closely linked to our PSHE curriculum. Through this approach, pupils develop self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and positive social skills. Children receive consistent encouragement and recognition when they demonstrate positive behaviour. They are supported to make appropriate choices, take responsibility for their actions and develop effective problem-solving skills.

Our school rules are taught and embedded throughout the school, from Reception to Year 6. This provides a clear and consistent framework for behaviour, ensuring that all members of the school community understand and work towards the same expectations.

Partnership with Families

We believe that positive behaviour is best achieved through a strong partnership between home and school. Families are expected to:

• Support their child in following the school rules and expectations.
• Inform the school of any changes in circumstances that may affect their child's behaviour or wellbeing.
• Ensure their child attends school regularly and arrives on time.
• Attend meetings and engage in communication with the school, including telephone conversations, when requested, to support their child's progress and wellbeing.
